Chances are, you or someone you know is living with a neurological condition. These conditions don’t just impact the person – they also affect families, friends, and carers, shaping the lives of many Australians.
Neurological conditions are the leading cause of ill health and disability globally, impacting more than three billion people worldwide — and alarmingly, these numbers are rising fast.
In Australia, neurological conditions are among the top five disease burdens, affecting millions of lives and placing a significant strain on healthcare systems and communities.
The sad fact is that neurological conditions have not received the same attention, resources, or recognition that other leading disease groups have. This needs to change.
That’s why the Neurological Alliance Australia (NAA) – a collective of peak bodies representing people living with neurological and neuro-muscular conditions – has launched the Count Us In campaign.
Together, we are advocating for the creation of a Taskforce for Neurological Conditions to urgently address six critical areas of need.
With a federal election approaching, we urge all political parties to commit to this Taskforce to improve care, support, and outcomes for Australians affected by neurological conditions.
Here’s how you can help: If MPs know their constituents support this cause, they are far more likely to act. It takes just a few minutes to send an email to your local MP – every voice counts!
